Laptop App

The Moozler Laptop App is available for free download today and can be used to evaluate the user experiences supported by the J-Box products. Vennetics provides this J-Box Laptop App to J-Box customers, with their own mobile operator branding. The network independent nature of the J-Box technology then allows any laptop user in the target market to download the App and create a new billing account, right from within the App itself. Balance top up features are also provided within the Laptop App, so that mobile operators can generate service revenues from users attached to competitor networks. The business intelligence features within the J-Box Server then allow this user base to be profiled in detail so that their network subscriptions can be acquired. At the same time, the end user can enjoy the following innovative new service features:

New VoIP Service

Once a new account has been created within the J-Box Laptop App, the VoIP client embedded within the App can be associated with the existing mobile phone number of the user. Alternatively, if the user is a customer of a competitive mobile network, then a new phone number can be provided with the J-Box Laptop App. In this way, as network operators provide the J-Box Laptop App to mobile users, they can allow all calls placed from that App to be charged against a mobile bill as normal, according to cheap VoIP tariffs. Trusted mobile operator billing relationships are much more convenient for end users than maintaining a separate billing account with an Internet company that they must top up by credit card. Calls placed from the App can then be either free video calls to other laptops or calls to real telephone numbers, which will be presented with the mobile number of the new account as the CLI. For users who dislike talking into USB headsets, the J-Box Laptop App even allows users to talk on the call with any plain old mobile phone or smart phone instead. As such, the J-Box Laptop App offers users the benefits of high quality calls provided by their GSM device and at the same time offers the cheap international tariffs provided by VoIP.

Multi Device, Multi Network Calls

The J-Box Laptop App includes a number of features that help extend the service footprint of the mobile operator across multiple connected devices and multiple access networks. Initially, at any time from right within the App, users can change the routing preferences for their incoming calls. For example, calls may be routed directly to their mobile phone as normal, or else they can instead be routed to the J-Box Laptop App, maybe to avoid roaming charges while abroad. Possibly most usefully though, users can also apply a configuration within the J-Box Laptop App to have incoming calls ring all of their devices simultaneously, with the call terminating at the first device to answer. This coherent service experience across Internet connected and GSM connected devices also extends to calls that are in progress. For example, a user talking on a mobile call who sits down at their laptop, can simply click a button on the J-Box Laptop App to seamlessly hijack the call to their computer, maybe to add video to the connection. Similarly, the App can be used to seamlessly move an ongoing call at the J-Box Laptop App to the mobile phone, maybe to allow a conversation to continue as the user walks away from their computer. In this manner, mobile operators can offer a new level of convenience for users with multiple connected devices

Network Address Book

A frequent complaint of users who maintain multiple connected devices is that each has it’s own address book. This is especially true for users who keep an address book on their laptop, which will frequently have an entirely separate contact list from the address book in their mobile phone. The J-Box Laptop App allows mobile operators to provide an elegant solution to this frequently articulated problem. With one tap on the J-Box Laptop App, users can back up all of the contacts onto the J-Box Server in the mobile network. This means that whatever device they may be using and whichever network it is connected to, users can simply open their J-Box App or use a browser to see their entire address book, providing a valuable new capability across this fragmented landscape.

Multi Destination Voice Messaging

The J-Box Laptop App includes features for both SMS broadcast and network originated conferencing. For example, within the App, users can highlight a few names and at a single click, J-Box will call all of the destination numbers and pull them into a conference bridge (after a short courtesy announcement is played). The system also allows these conference calls to be scheduled, such that at the appropriate time and date J-Box will originate each leg of the conference call. This additional network centric intelligence obviates the need for users to remember bridge numbers and access codes in order to enjoy conferencing features. Rather, the J-Box Laptop App delivers added value and convenience for users who need to manage voice and messaging communications towards multiple destinations. This is also true for message broadcast, where SMS over mobile broadband is today inhibited by the CLI of the message acquiring the anonymous number of the SIM card in the broadband dongle. The additional convenience provided by the J-Box Laptop App extends to restoring the CLI of SMS traffic, to the recognizable mobile number of the user.

Video Media

The J-Box Laptop App also provides an excellent platform for mobile operators to present video content to users, taking advantage of the additional screen real estate. The App includes a number of video channels that can be used for video on demand services or to gain extra exposure for exclusive content that may arise from music or sports sponsorships. Furthermore, when the App becomes idle the J-Box system plays some advertising content until it is activated again by the user. As such, the J-Box Laptop App can also generate incremental revenue from third party advertisers or display targeted mobile operator advertisements, aimed at winning new service subscriptions from the user.
